Graduate Studentships

MGCC awards Manitoba’s first studentship for gambling research

In 2010, the MGCC awarded its first studentship to Asper School of Business student Navin Bahl, who completed his Masters of Science (Marketing) in 2011. The award supported Mr. Bahl’s unique project that used a new qualitative methodology called netnography to analyze factors that drive online poker players to gamble.

As part of our research mandate, the Manitoba Gaming Control Commission (MGCC) is committed to supporting high-quality, innovative research and to building gambling-related research capacity in the province. In keeping with this commitment, we offer a graduate studentship program that provides financial support of up to $10,000 to masters and doctoral students at Manitoba universities who are conducting research related to our regulatory mandate.

Applications for September 2012 funding must be received by June 1, 2012.
