Setting and Sticking to Spending Limits when Gambling

So what is your best strategy?

Set a spending limit and only gamble with money you can afford to lose.

Gambling for fun and entertainment is the most common reason given by Manitobans.  It is important to remember that even though gambling is a form of entertainment it does cost money.

Most Manitobans define "responsible gambling" as setting a spending limit and not spending more than you can afford.  This is correct. Setting and sticking to an affordable spending limit is an excellent strategy for gambling responsibly.

Setting a spending limit is the most popular strategy used by Manitobans to gamble responsibly. Other good strategies include limiting how often you gamble and leaving debit and credit cards at home when gambling.

It is also important to understand the truths about randomness and odds. 35% of Manitobans wrongly believe that knowing how slot machines and VLTs work will improve their chances of winning. The truth is that slot machines and VLTs are totally random and that there's no way to affect the outcome or to predict a win.  Click on the images on the right for more information about how slot machines and VLTs work.
