THINK YOU'RE IN TOUCH WITH YOUR FEELINGS?
Stress and anxiety are signs of problem gambling.
Set a spending limit and stick to it.
Did you know that in a 2007 study the majority of Manitobans could describe strategies for gambling responsibly, but 36% of Manitobans said that they never set limits when they gamble?
The MGCC knows that gambling can become a problem for some players. It can be easy to spot the major signs of problem gambling, like using borrowed money to gamble, lying about gambling, or even stealing money to gamble. But gambling harm begins with much more subtle signs. Stress and anxiety, in particular, are important warning signals.
When you play, it's important to set spending limits, to not gamble longer than you’d planned and to pay attention to your emotions. Are you becoming anxious? Are you feeling tempted to stray from the limits you set for yourself? Remember, the more you continue to play, the more you will pay - period.
So what is your best strategy? Set a spending limit and only gamble with money you can afford to lose..
