Research Article to be published in The Journal of Gambling Studies

A research article about gambling motives written collectively by the MGCC and Dr. Michael Ellery, an assistant professor at the University of Manitoba's Psychology Department, has been accepted for publication of The Journal of Gambling Studies. Publishing in a peer-reviewed academic journal is a significant achievement for a gaming regulator. Click here for more information or to read the article.

The Manitoba Gaming Control Commission (MGCC) is committed to building a strong foundation of valid and reliable empirical research to inform our operational, policy advisory and public interest activities. As such, we have developed a robust research agenda that is updated annually to reflect evolving research priorities. Articulating research goals allows the MGCC to undertake strategic research projects that best support our broad regulatory responsibilities.

In addition to conducting independent projects, the MGCC collaborates with provincial, national and international research partners to build research capacity and contribute to major research initiatives.

We combine academic standards with our regulatory perspective to be a leader in gambling research relevant to Manitoba’s gaming environment.
